The cost to install a Ground based heat pump System is much more expensive than an ASHP. The total price will depend on the property size and several other factors, but a ground heating system is best suited for those who have a large plot of land/outdoor space, such as farms, schools, countryside properties and commercial premises. We can give you a free quote once you complete the quote form further down this page.
Also, the grant of £7,500 will be deducted from the final price. For example, if the quote comes to £30,000 (survey, drilling, excavation, heat pump, materials, labour included in the £30k), then you minus the £7,500 grant. So total price paid would be £22,500.
From 8th May 2024 onwards, property insulation is no longer a requirement in order to qualify for the grant.
An GSHP Installation can be up to 300% to 500% more efficient. For every unit of energy it uses to harness heat, it outputs 3-5 units of heat.

You can get grants for both Commercial Ground Source Heat Pumps in Suffolk & Norfolk and domestic installs. You were eligible to qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme (this ended 31st March 2022). Now, you can claim the Boiler Upgrade Scheme Grant of £7,500 (increased from £5,000). This grant became available from May 2022 onwards.
So a grant of £7,500 is available towards a ground source heat pump (including water source heat pumps and those shared loops).
From early May 2024, your property will be eligible for the grant even if there are ouTstanding insulation recommendations on the EPC.
You cannot apply for a grant yourself. A registered MCS company will need to do the required paperwork and submit the application (we are MCS accredited and can do all the paperwork for you). The grant is given in the form of a discount voucher, and is then deducted from the total price of the installation. A ground source heating engineer will then coordinate the survey and drilling/excavation process, and then does the install and commissioning of the system.
We do the paperwork and claim the grant in the form of a voucher. The cost of the grant will then be deducted from your final invoice (£7,500).
There is a 3 month expiration period for the grant from the date it is issued. If the voucher expires, we can always apply for a new one.
Yes, we are. MCS stands for Microgeneration Certification Scheme. We are qualified to do the design work & grant applications. Our contract partners, who are local ground source heat pump installers in Norfolk & Suffolk, are qualified to undertake the system installs.
You do not need planning permission unless you want to install 2 ground pumps or the building is listed or a conservation area. The dug up area must not go beyond 5000 square metres either. If you want to install more than 1 and the area that is dug up goes beyond 5000 square metres, than planning permission is needed.
You will get a guarantee from the MCS installer. On top of this, there is a 25 years manufacture guarantee on the heat pump & 50 year guarantee on the ground loops.
